Ben Miltner established Galiano Kayaks as an owner-operated company in 1985. Galiano Kayaks is located on Galiano Island in British Columbia, Canada.
Ben fell in love with the unique natural history of Costa Rica as a graduate student of geography in 1975. Years later, in 1987, Ben started offering sea kayak tours and inland natural history & birding tours in Costa Rica during B.C.’s winter months.
With Drake Bay Kayaking, Ben and his staff offer kayaking tours around Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula. Ben and his guides have extensive experience in kayaking skills, natural history, leadership, and Wilderness First Aid.
With Talamanca Nature Tours, Ben and his staff offer three-day and nine-day natural history & birding tours to a variety of biomes in Costa Rica's diverse interior.
Drake Bay Sea Kayaking and Talamanca Nature Tours in Costa Rica operate from December to April.
Despite its small size, Costa Rica offers a wide range of habitats, allowing for a spectacular level of biodiversity that draws nature lovers from around the world. Osa Peninsula wildlife features howler, squirrel, and white-faced monkeys, sloths, coatamundis, toucans, and the rare Scarlet Macaw.
Corcovado National Park, and the Osa Peninsula in southwestern Costa Rica, is the most species rich area in Central America. The peninsula offers a visual feast of wildlife. It is home to the brilliant Scarlet Macaw, the highest trees in the nation, 365 species of birds, 140 types of mammals, 117 types of reptiles and amphibians, and over 40 species of freshwater fish. There are 13 major ecosystems nearby. Owing to its isolation, biological diversity, and its large tracts of old growth forest, the Osa Peninsula is one of Costa Rica's richest natural areas.
National Geographic has referred to it as "the most biologically intense place on Earth."
Costa Rica is a democratic nation that has no standing army, one of the best public education systems in Latin America, and a population that enjoys good healthcare.
